meet andrew + isabella
Andrew and Isabella met how many 21st century couple do nowadays: Tinder. When their casual coffee date turned into a 10-hour, all-day affair, they knew something was different. Their love for the Lord and their Catholic faith was evident, so it didn't take long for them to fall in love and discern marriage!
When they reached out to ask us to capture their wedding, we were excited not only because they are an awesome couple, but also because of the venues they selected: the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for the Mass and the Clay Theatre in Green Cove Springs, FL, for the reception. You can find some of our favorite highlights in photos below.
getting ready
Both Andrew and Isabella got ready at The Clay Theatre, which made things easy for us as photographers. Andrew got ready downstairs with his groomsmen and dad. We loved that he wore his Navy whites on his wedding day—it not only looked classy, but it made for some fun photo-ops, too! One special element that he wore was he carried his late grandfather’s Naval officer’s sword. We thought that was such a special way to honor his family member who had passed.
On the girls side, Isabella got ready with her gals upstairs while we snagged a quick flat lay (we LOVED how these turned out with the gold, white, and black theme—very timeless!). We grabbed a few fun pictures with the bridesmaids and allowed time for prayer together before Isabella got into her dress and did a first look with her bridesmaids and dad.
the nuptial mass
Both Andrew and Isabella have a deep love for the traditions of the Church, and their nuptial Mass reflected that. It took place at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Jacksonville (arguably the most beautiful Church in Jacksonville). It was also celebrated ad orientum (meaning the priest faces away from the people) with traditional hymns accompanying. In their own words, they said they wanted "it to give off the vibes of the wedding of Captain von Trapp and Maria von Trap in The Sound of Music: big organ, big church, naval officer- that sort of energy." If you had to ask us, we think they delivered on that vision!
couple portraits
We had two different times for couple portraits weaved into Isabella and Andrew's day: One right after their family portraits at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and one at the Clay Theatre before they entered the reception. This allowed for a few different looks and PLENTY of photos for their gallery!
group photos
We captured all of the family portraits right after the Nuptial Mass inside the church, but we waited to snag the bridal party photos until we got to the Clay Theatre. We thought that the black bridesmaids dresses against the backdrop of the white Clay Theatre really elevated the look of this bridal party!
reception
The Clay Theatre in Green Cove Springs was the perfect backdrop for Andrew and Isabella's reception, which was very much a roaring 20's-esque classy party. Their details were simple and kept to the black, white, and gold theme. The newspapers were a nice touch and added more of an "old-time elegant" vibe! We only stayed through the formalities, but loved every second of their party!
